Question
I have an earlier version of DatabaseBridge (or ABACUS) installed on my
machine. Can I download the latest version for updating?
Answer
Skyway Technology makes continuous effort to improve our product and may update
the download file for our software with email notice to licensed users for free
sub-version update. For users without a license, you are always welcome to
download and try each new version/subversion for specified time period. Our
product version consists of a major and a minor version. The major version
number is used in license control. For users with a license, updating is free
for all sub-version as long as the major version is the same. For instance, a
license issued with DatabaseBridge 1.002 will cover DatabaseBridge 1.009, but
can not be extended to DatabaseBridge 2.001.
Question
How to update DatabaseBridge( or ABACUS)?
Answer
It
is easy to do first time installing. If your computer already has an old
version, you must uninstall it before installing a new version. Please use
Window's standard tool "Add/Remove Programs" on "Control Panel" to remove the
old version. During the uninstalling process, Windows may ask you whether to
remove some shared components, say "Yes" to delete them. In addition, Windows
may warn you that there are residue files and directories. Do not be concerned,
just leave it as is. These files, which carry information on your working space
and your saved work, should be passed to the new version. However, you'd better
make a back up copy of your DatabaseBridge (or ABACUS) related working files
for 100% safety.
Question
Will DatabaseBridge work on a Unix machine?
Answer
DatabaseBridge
runs on Windows operating systems. However, it can access any ODBC compliant
database server, which can run under any operating system. For example, your
may have an ORACLE database running on a unix machine, DatabaseBridge will be
able to access this database through its ODBC driver.
