DatabaseBridge
is a cross-DBMS data management tool that provides various kinds of data
integration and data exchange services in a multiple database environment.
These services include easy read/write database access, copying tables
(structure, data, indexes) between databases, transferring data (regular data
and BLOB/CLOB) between databases, browsing schema and data, displaying various
kinds of BLOB/CLOB data, including image, sound, move clips etc. data
comparison, flat data validation, read/write distributed query, scheduled job
execution, etc. DatabaseBridge provides a quick and easy way to access schema
and data from multiple databases simultaneously. It compares and transfers data
at superior speeds. A cross DBMS data transfer job of a million records can be
completed in minutes. It provides easy read/write access to your data source so
that data, data structure, schema , etc. are only one or two mouse clicks away.
DatabaseBridge lets you copy tables easily from one database to another. The
copy targets can be a single table, several tables or even all tables in a
database. You can choose to copy table structures with or without data, with or
without indexes. You can select fields (columns) to be copied, and select
records (rows) to be copied. You can merge tables or break a table. The data
type conversion, when necessary, is automatically done by DatabaseBridge. You
can copy both regular data and BLOB/CLOB data.
Database Bridge provides easy ways for you to read or write your database and
short cuts to reach your database objects. One or two mouse clicks will bring
the information of your choice, which may be table structure, or data, or data
retrieve query, or source code for view, or source code for procedure, etc.
Filling a form to provide field values is all you have to do to write your
database for insert, update or delete. In addition to database object tree and
popup menu, which are designed for this purpose, a record browser and a easy
database writer are provided. The record browser lets you reach whole
information (text, image, sound, movie clip, ...) of your table record, and
lets you easily navigate among records and pick up whichever you want. The easy
database writer reduces your work to the minimum for writing to your database
tables, i.e., you only have to give field values and the easy database writer
does all the rest.
DatabaseBridge provides easy and quick ways for data transfer between existing
tables in different databases. It can transfer both regular data and BLOB/CLOB
data at high speeds. In addition, it provides other data comparison and
transfer tools. It is capable of comparing data, transferring data, relocating
data and deleting data. You can control the data involved in an operation by
defining selection criterion. These data services work for both relational and
flat data sources. You can use this tool, for example, to migrate regular data
and BLOB/CLOB data from one database to another, and then use the data
comparison feature to check the result.
DatabaseBridge provides various means to help you with BLOB/CLOB data. It lets
you copy BLOB/CLOB data together with regular data during table copying and
data transfer. It provides tools to save a BLOB/CLOB field into a file or load
binary data from a file into BLOB/CLOB field. It provides an easy way for you
to view and/or listen your BLOB/CLOB data in your database. It can display
various kinds of images, sound/music, movie clips, etc.
DatabaseBridge can serve as a universal interface to access data and schema
information from almost any relational database and many flat data sources. You
can easily find schema information, such as table structure, indexes, procedure
definitions, etc. You can see your data by simply clicking on a table name or
issuing a query. It is a great help for people who work in a multiple database
environment. It is tedious, if not a burden, to get familiar with different
database interfaces, to have them crowd you monitor, to switch from one
interface to another. With DatabaseBridge, you stay with one interface and
reach all your data sources. You can easily get schema information for each of
your databases, issue regular queries to access a particular database, issue a
distributed query to access multiple databases, present retrieved data in
various formats.
DatabaseBridge provides various ways to present your data. The data, retrieved
through regular or distributed query, can be saved in many formats, such as XML
file, HTML file, spreadsheet file, text file (either delimited or fixed record
width), or a new table in a chosen database. In addition, DatabaseBridge can
send data to Crystal Reports.
DatabaseBridge is a convenient tool for distributed query. Data can be
retrieved from multiple relational or non-relational data sources, and table
joins can be made among them to reflect their logical relations. DatabaseBridge
can do distributed write queries, such as delete, update and insert to modify
data in one data source in accordance with data in other data sources.
DatabaseBridge's distributed query can be used on both relational databases and
flat databases (text file, spreadsheet file, html file, etc). For example, you
can insert data from a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to a table in a DB2
database, or update and Oracle table in accordance with the related data in a
Microsoft Access table. DatabaseBridge does distributed queries so easily and
smoothly it feels like you were dealing with data from one database while you
are actually working in a multiple database environment.
DatabaseBridge provides flat data source users with a powerful tool to perform
checks on data integrity. Data from flat data sources, such as text file or
spread sheets, is not reliable because it is not protected by an adequate data
validation mechanism in its data source. DatabaseBridge provides a good
validation tool for integrity checks on data from flat data sources. With this
tool, you can easily define various kinds of validation rules, even rules to
check uniqueness and rules to check the match of you data against a database
table (a relation similar to FK-PK match in the relational model). You just
define the rules and DatabaseBridge will do the hard work and tell you which
records are bad and why they are bad.
DatabaseBridge provides users with good reusability. Not only can you do
various jobs with it, but you can also save these jobs for future reuse. You
define a job only once and run it as many times as you want. In addition, you
can run your defined job for execution at a later time.
DatabaseBridge is a universal management tool for distributed data in the sense
that it does not come form a particular database vendor and does not limit its
service to a particular database environment. It works fine as a data bridge
for almost any relational database and many non-relational data sources. For
example, it can serve as a bridge to link an Oracle database to a Microsoft SQL
database as well as a bridge to link a Microsoft Access database to an IBM DB2
database.
